All of the work that Jake V. has done over the past two years to increase cyclist safety and awareness in our area is now resulting in West Seattle’s first bike box. For those entering Delridge from east bound Andover will notice a big green box marked for cyclist. This is a bike box and gives cyclist the ability to cross the intersection safely in front of vehicle traffic. For motorist, please note that you must stop behind the green box.
The bike box was installed last Sunday and sparked a ton of comments on the original West Seattle Blog post. Tracey and Patrick did an excellent job at compiling the questions and doing a follow up post today. I highly suggest checking out these posts for details on how the intersection works and concerns that people have raised. The video on today’s post is very helpful to get the cyclist perspective.
